Attraction is great.
Something about attraction is sexy and exciting.
The thought of being attracted to some is beautiful but the thought of being attracted in someone’s eyes is even more exciting.
However, what are some signs that can help determine attraction? How are we so sure that someone is attracted to us? Is it possible that someone is just being nice or they’re naturally a flirt?
Today, we’re diving into 3 common signs you’ll see if someone is attracted to you. Surprisingly, the signs are more straightforward than most people make it out to be.
1. Eye Contact
According to a study, when oxytocin levels increased along with mutual eye gaze, it provides a sense of well-being (via Psychology Today).
So what exactly is oxytocin?
According to Medical News Today, oxytocin is basically a hormone that’s associated with empathy, love, and relationships. Funny enough, oxytocin is also referred to as the “love hormone” because it increases during physical touch like hugging.
Furthermore, Science of People claims that eye contact has different levels of intimacy. So, the best way to know if someone feels attracted to you is how they gaze at you and how long they gaze at you.
Therefore, if both parties maintain eye gaze and the fireworks go off (kidding), there’s a high chance that attraction is in the air.
2. Goodbye Distance
Although it’s obvious that distance plays a role in attraction, there are many ways that a person can enter your personal space to show their attraction to you.
- You can feel a shift in energy when someone enters your intimate zone. Everybody’s intimate zone can vary but it’s somewhere between 0–18 inches away from each other. This can happen whether you’re sitting or standing. So, if you’re in a booth and the person of your interest sits next to you, instead of the other side, it can classify as a sign of attraction.
- Both sources also claim that when someone leans close to your body or they lean inwards towards you it’s a sign that someone is attracted to you. The concept is pretty easy because you wouldn’t lean towards someone that you hate. If anything, you would want an extreme distance between you and your enemy.
3. Body Language and Posture
When someone is attracted to you, I’m more than positive that they’re not going to slump over, cry, and be on their knees hiding behind a wall. You don’t need science to prove that to you (LOL). Rather, that person will have a good upward posture and they’re doing whatever they can to get you to notice them.
According to WebMD, standing up straight can help someone feel positive, confident, and focused. For example, a man can stand up straight with their chest puffed out when they see an attractive woman. They may want you to feel their confidence, dominance, or they just want to show off (kidding but not kidding).
Another sign is when someone touches their face and hair. WebMD claims that “self-grooming” behaviors may come off as someone wanting attention from a person that they feel attracted to. For example, women may fluff their hair, flip their hair to one side, or gently touch their lip. If you see women do that, it’s probably one of many signs that they feel attracted to you.
The last sign that I saw from Psychology Today and WebMD was “mirroring.” I don’t mean this in a creepy way like they’re mimicking every single move that you’re doing. It’s more like if you stand up to get a cup of coffee at a cafe, they’ll find a reason to stand up to be closer to you. If you’re looking at an artwork on the left wall, they’ll most likely look at the same artwork too.
And if you turn your body and eyes fast enough, you might catch them looking at you the moment your eyes meet. That’s definitely a sign that they had their eyes on you this whole time.
